If Angelo Viggiani was an Imperial Captain in the Service of Charles V it would explain why his manuscript was published posthumously. I mean, I could see him being too busy to also worry about getting a book out.

Definitely. It also lends credence to the notion that he was personally tutoring Charles in some capacity, and promised a certain grace period. Charles enjoyed fencing, and actually challenges Francis I to a duel at one point.
